"Fonzie Favorites" was one of my very first LPs - alongside Heatwave's "Too Hot To Handle" and somehow the Beach Boys' bizarre "Love You". Using the Fonz's mug to stealth promote The Coasters and Lloyd Price and Little Richard was an act of low-key subversion, and I for one am happy I was co-opted! Sadly, this means I was also aware of "The Fonz Song", which you had to skip over at the top of side 2 to get to Chubby Checker.

I enjoyed reading this, thanks. As a die hard Fonzie fan, it brought back alot of memories. I found a stray cat in 1975 and took her in and even named HER " Fonzie". Neil and Henry.....cringe.

The Fonz also made Saturday mornings his turf in his prime: Hanna-Barbera was quick to put him into animated form in "The Fonz And The Happy Days Gang" on (of course) ABC. But, typical for them, they had to fit him with a canine counterpart named Mr. Cool...

Whoa - I don’t remember this at all!

Not many people do. Television animation is not all gold.

Oh, I watched some real garbage in those days - but even I would have turned my nose up at that one!

Just cracked open The Spirit of '76 over a decidedly non-76 restaurant lunch yesterday of a Sri Lankan fried clam wrap. I'm not sure if the eating or reading was more delicious, but those were two great tastes that certainly went together well. Hey, maybe *that's* a 1976 sentiment!

Oooh - a fried clam wrap sounds fantastic!

I admit I had a faux leather jacket I insisted upon as an xmas gift and had a Fonz poster, from the "Dynamite" magazine where the Fonz got the cover several times.

Dan Epstein's avatar

I had a Dynamite poster of him as well!

I had no idea there were any Fonzie songs. Haha amazing! Thank you!

Thanks for this, Dan! So enjoyable to revisit my teen years through The Fonz.

Not surprised Henry Winkler was described as "one of the nicest people in Hollywood."

His portrayal of Uncle Ralph was my only reason to ever watch a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel.

Right on, Lance! Which Christmas movie?

According to the interwebs it was called "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" from 2008. His character was the complete opposite of The Fonz, which shows he was above being typecast.
