What an amazing collection of songs! This is the kind of party I'm glad to have snagged an invite to. Thanks, Dan, and best wishes for Christmas!

Frosty the Snowman and Sleigh Ride from the Phil Specter Christmas Album

That whole album is golden to me — except for the closing track.

Oh, when Phil speaks? Yeah, it's like, "shut up, Phil."

Even before I knew he was a psycho, that part creeped the hell out of me.

Literally any song from that Phil Spector Christmas album. I wear that vinyl out each year.

What a great collection of songs and thoughtful write ups. I feel very honored to contribute a few words about Big Star’s “Jesus Christ”…and I was tickled red and green to see my own band The Brothers Steve made the nice list with our song “I Love The Christmastime” (thanks Tony!).

I did a double-take when he sent me that one, haha!

That’s always a fun one to play live, but it’s a real Xmas miracle when the five of us are ever in the same room with instruments these days.

I had to exercise a superhuman level of restraint not to pick Prince because Otis Redding deserves the honor of best Christmas song in my book. Thanks for letting me play Dan!

Thanks for joining us, Jami! I'm kind of amazed that we didn't have any duplicate choices; but while I love that Prince song, I'm definitely on Team Otis with you.

Dan, thanks for inviting me to your Christmas party and allowing me to be a proud representative of "old man music" and sixties nostalgia. Homemade Christmas cookies, eggnog, a blazing fire, carols blaring from the hi-fi -- yes, please!

Wish you and yours a happy holiday season!

Thank YOU, Ellen! In fact, you inspired me to buy a vinyl reissue of that Tony Bennett LP — a glaring hole in my Xmas collection until now. And Happy Holidays to you and yours, too!

What a lovely cornucopia of Christmas songs!

One that I'll throw into the mix. I've been convinced that the best version of "Santa Baby" is Maria Muldaur's -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bI76sxl84XY

Just the right mix of sultry and self-aware.

(Also, S.W. Lauden, I also think "Jesus Christ" is great but does anyone actually find it heartwarming?)

Thanks for letting me hang out, dudes! I would have chosen something more "uplifting," but I haven't been drinking as much. Let me tell you...it sucks.

Hang in there, my man. It was lovely to have you join us!

Thank you so much for this great list, and thanks for including Ms. Darlene Love -- god I love that song -- I just so happen to be writing about it for tomorrow. It's not just a Christmas song. It's a great song that just happens to be set at Christmas. But you guys made a mistake and forgot to include Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas."

Hahaha - I wouldn’t call it a “mistake,” per se…

Wow, so many great songs. The only Christmas song that I can say that I truly enjoy is The Little Drummer Boy, but if they actually played more of these types of songs, I’d definitely be less of a grinch. The Staple Singers song just blew me away! What a masterpiece!

Darlene Love was a close second!
