I mentioned this on Facebook, but I'm halfway thru the book ( got the signed copy from Rough Trade a little early ). And it's all I hoped it would be ( as someone who also jumped onboard the RK train around "Neurotica" ), & so much more. I've learned SO much reading it - like the whole Sky Saxon chunk...NO idea that was a thing. While I read, I found that album on YouTube...and man, they weren't kidding about the album's quality. So of course I had to find a copy on Discogs ASAP. ( mild spoiler : the KISS song they "played" w/him that Jeff couldn't recall was "Fits Like A Glove" ) The book is making up for my not being able to see the band on this last tour. Thanks!

Ah ha! That unnamed KISS song was something I'd made a mental note to research, but never got around to — probably because I couldn't sit through the whole Sky record to figure it out. Thank you for your service!

I only made it thru as long as it took to read that part of the book. Ha ha...afterward, I zipped thru the YouTube to confirm the song, assuming it was prime 70's KISS. Nope - an album track from the 1st unmasked record "Lick It Up". Go figure.

Surely the Hecker influence coming into play...

MonoStereo's avatar

Didn't even think of that, but it makes sense.

The book is only available as a hardcover?

For now, yes. Will probably come out in soft cover in a year or two.
