I’m not sure why the High Fidelity TV series wasn’t a big hit, but this article makes me think there’s still a good sitcom to be made out of a setting like this, early 2000’s Virgin or Tower Records.
(I've also thought there might be a fun, low-budget period movie about a small recording studio that gets turned upside down when some big act decides to record there — any real stories like that come to mind?)
Oh yeah — I have Record Store stories for days. Maybe this "vinyl is back" era would be more welcoming of a sitcom like that?
As for the studio concept... off the top of my head, Led Zeppelin II and Sticky Fingers were recorded at small US studios during Led Zeppelin and the Stones' respective 1969 tours. Not sure how much raucous behavior went on during those sessions, if any, but one could certainly imagine certain individuals getting pretty out of hand in a "fish out of water" kinda way...
Great story Dan, thanks for sharing!
