Seven Year Old Warmonger is going to be the name of my next band 🤣🤣🤣. Also, love the line about being on both sides of the line of music snobbery. So true for most of us....might as well admit it. Great read Dan.
Oh my god, I totally remember that TV commercial (we are definitely about the same age), and it too shaped how I saw Elvis songs in my head for years to come. I was actually able to badger my parents into buying that greatest hits collection -- we lived in the Houston suburbs and I don't remember any music snobs in my neighborhood. I have since turned into a reformed music snob like yourself because yes, like the music you want to like.
"...I witnessed brown rice turning to ashes in people’s mouths..." Oh man, such a brilliant, evocative, and damning description. I'm so glad I finally got on here, Dan. Rock on!
Ohhh yeah. Though my parents, being of the hippie/intellectual sort, weren't worried about protecting me from much beyond the racist portrayals of Native Americans in old westerns...

Awww thanks, man! So glad you've joined the party!
