Loved the song Dan, and omg what a soul piercing falsetto. Thanks for sharing! And yes, it’s been another bastard of a week. I’m glad you pulled through. Another thanks for pulling me along with you.
Were there any covers of this song? Even though I don’t think I’d heard it before now, it was still somehow familiar.
Jim, you might be familiar with one of several reggae covers of the song — Dennis Brown and John Holt both did fantastic versions in the 70s, and I think there have been a few more since then.
There is also a wonderful ska/rocksteady version by Derrick Harriot that would have come first I suspect. The song clearly lends itself to reggae. Nice post, Lovely song of course. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLFKyb0Ofa4
Thanks for bringing this song back into my memory. I had forgotten all about it, but now I remember that beautiful falsetto and haunting lyrics from a time when so many guys were shipping out for Vietnam and the world was starting to turn topsy turvy. It’s a keeper. I bet if I start digging through my 45s, I will find it.
Never heard this beautiful song before - what a gem.

Another lovely piece, brother. Hope all goes well in the wake of last week's stress and worry. 🖤
Thanks, brother. Things are (knock on wood) looking up for this week!
Hang in there, Brother Dan. You are most definitely not traveling alone.
By the way, are you familiar with David J. Fleming and his Baseball Obscura? If not, I have an introduction to make…
Thanks, Ron. And no, not familiar!
Wow- a new to me R&B group for me to get into...
Right on!
Adding my voice to the chorus of thanks for the introduction to the song and/or band (both, for me). Gorgeous music.
I hope things continue to improve for you and yours, Dan.
Thanks, Jackie. Things definitely seem to be heading in the right direction!
